A Sticky Situation
Some people think that chewing gum is a nasty habit. They cringe whenever someone pops a bubble too loudly next to them, or when the sound of chomping jaws echoes through the hallway. We get it, especially when we discover chewed-up gum on the bottom of our shoe… or worse, in our hair!
But these people don’t realize how important gum truly is. You were like that once, too, before the incident. It was when you were working at the local nuclear power plant. You had just started, and you were working the night shift. You were supposed to have a partner, but he’d called in sick that day, leaving you all alone.
For the first four hours, everything was fine. But right around midnight, the alarm started blaring: “Danger! Reactor overload!” You rushed to the reactor, and you saw that it was true. The thermometer was steadily rising. If you didn’t do something fast, the whole place would blow! Quickly, you opened the back of the control panel, trying to figure out what was wrong… There!
