Not Just a Character in a Musical
Before he was singing his way through Hamilton, George Washington was kind of a big deal. He wasn’t just the first U.S. President—he basically beta-tested the entire “leader of a free nation” thing. At six, he was allegedly chopping down cherry trees. By twenty, he was a Major in the Colonial Military. And then? Just a casual revolution followed by launching a country from scratch. No biggie.
Clearly, the man deserves some recognition. So, our costume designers put down their history books, cranked up the Broadway soundtrack, and got to work crafting an outfit worthy of a founding father’s legacy (and dramatic exits).
Design & Details
This George Washington costume is tailored for anyone ready to lead a revolution or at least a really dramatic school assembly. It features a rich blue velvet jacket with gold trim, decorative buttons, and stately epaulets for maximum 18th-century swagger. Underneath, the matching gold damask vest front secures in the back and adds a presidential flourish.
The white ascot has three lace-tiered layers—because nothing says “national icon” like neck ruffles. Tan jersey knit pants come with an elastic waistband, so you can charge across battlefields (or buffets) in comfort. Faux leather boot tops and a foam-backed bicorn hat finish the look with historically appropriate flair.
Presidential Hair
Once you’re suited up, you might feel a sudden urge to declare independence, cross a river dramatically, or issue stern but fatherly advice. For the full one-dollar-bill effect, add a colonial wig to your cart and prepare to be saluted—probably more than once.
