It’s been said that a zoot suit is the perfect outfit for a self-made man. We’re not exactly sure why that is, but we wanted to find out. We thought it would be as simple as tracking down a couple of self-made men and asking them what they thought of our exclusive Black Zoot Suit Costume, so we went around asking all the guys in the office how each of them came to be. And we got some great answers. But none of them helped us understand this slick-looking costume we’d just created.
We heard a lot about when two people love each other very much, and a couple of forged in the fires of this or that legendary volcano. We even had one guy tell us he was pretty sure that his parents were not of this world, but he refused to elaborate. Not a single one of us said anything that could be construed as I made me myself, except for the guy who said he didn’t how how he came to be at all. And we’re just going to have to put brackets around that response for now.
Based on our research, we’ve concluded that a self-made man prefers not to answer annoying personal questions. So the snappy suspenders of a suit like this lets everybody know that he takes care of business, and the stylish bagginess of the pants and coat shows them that he likes to do it on his own terms. A carefully-chosen fedora, watch chain, and pair of dapper spats are all he needs to fill in the blanks!
